Mountain View Lodge offers luxury accommodation for up to 10 people in the heart of the beautiful Cairngorms National Park. Perfect for families looking to get away from it all and enjoy the invigorating Highland air, dramatic scenery, and outdoor activities, this luxury holiday home has everything you will need for an enjoyable, relaxing stay in the Highlands.
A large bedroom contains two kingsize beds, and a second bedroom houses a third kingsize bed and a sofa-bed. There is ample room to relax in the large 42 X 20 foot lounge, which has a fantastic Cathedral ceiling and modern lighting and sumptuous leather sofas. The spacious dining room comfortably seats ten at the dining table, and here a second, very comfortable double sofa-bed can be found. The property benefits from large windows throughout, from which you can immerse yourself in the surrounding vista from every room.
Enjoy the spectacular views of the snowcapped mountains, and sit back and take in the stunning scenery in the warmth and comfort of the Lodge, whilst those that want to can play pool in the Lodge’s games room, which is within the large conservatory. The lodge is suitable for wheelchair users, with access to the Lodge via a concrete ramp into the utility room, and there is private parking for up to four cars.
A mile from Insh village, you are able to walk or cycle right from the front doorstep of the Lodge, straight into the woods, where there are miles and miles of tracks through the pine forests across and into Glen Feshie. The property enjoys views of the River Spey, one of Scotland’s big four Salmon rivers and popular with canoeists as well as fly fishermen. Try your hand at fishing, not only for salmon but for sea trout, finnock, kelts and smolts, in the ninth longest river in the United Kingdom. The fly fishing season runs from early March to September.
A perfect location for nature lovers, The Cairngorms National Park is home to some of Britain’s most loved, but endangered species. These include the Golden Eagle, the Red Squirrel, and the rare Scottish Wildcat. Explore the area by foot or bike and look out for the Highlands wildlife, including Whooper swans, Red Deer stags, Ospreys, and grouse. Perhaps you would prefer to explore the driving and walking areas of the Highland Wildlife Park in Kincraig, Kingussie, which is about a 15-minute drive away from the Lodge. Here you will find Scottish wildlife and endangered mountain and tundra animals; a great safari park and zoo for all the family. Kingussie itself, about five miles away, is the capital of Badenoch. It is a small, lively town beside the river Spey, offering speciality shops, festivals, live music, and award-winning eateries. If you do like to eat out, you might want to visit the town and tourist resort of Aviemore, which is 12 miles away. Aviemore is a great base for families, with plenty of attractions in the village and surrounding area.
There is, of course, no need to eat out as Mountain View Lodge has everything you need for a successful self-catering break. The luxury kitchen is fully equipped and has a Nespresso coffee machine, large modern gas hob, and dishwasher. An extra fridge-freezer is kept in the garage. There is also a good sized utility room with a washing machine and separate tumble dryer for our guest’s convenience. The Lodge benefits from a large wet room with shower and toilet, and an en-suite with wet room and shower.
There is more than ample opportunity for outdoor activities in the area. The Lodge is about a six-minute drive from Loch Insh where there is sailing, canoeing and everything for the water sports enthusiast, and the Cairngorm Mountain Ski Resort is 19 miles away. There are plenty of golf courses for the golfing enthusiast, with Newtonmore Golf Club being less than 20 minutes away. The Cairngorm National Park itself offers 12 golf courses, as well as watersports, snowsports, a sled dog centre, and even a permanent bridge-based bungee jump – the first in the UK. Glenmore Forest Park is located at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains; a highlight of the Park is the freshwater inland loch, Loch Morlich, fringed with pines and well known for its long sandy beach. An extensive network of forest trails here provides superb walking, mountain biking, and in the winter, cross-country skiing.
The Lodge is within easy reach of Ben Macdui the second highest mountain in the United Kingdom after Ben Nevis, so there really is more than enough to choose from if you want to exert yourself! Then at the end of the day, guests can enjoy the hot-tub and sauna as they relax and admire the views. The Lodge is surrounded by a large garden curtailment area and we do accept pets. We are confident that Mountain View Lodge has everything you need for an enjoyable, relaxing stay in the Highlands and we look forward to welcoming you at our newest luxury self-catering cottage soon.
